Christ Church, Middle Haddam, CT is celebrating their Austin Organ op. 1855 being returned to service with a concert on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. Works to be performed include an Organ Concerto by Handel, a rarely heard work for organ and orchestra by Alec Rowley, selections from the Gloria and Magnificat by Vivaldi with choir, and works for orchestra by Purcell and Vivaldi.
The Christ Church Choir will be joined by the Northeast CT Community Orchestra, Dylan Lomangino, Conductor, and John Nisbet, organist.
A free will offering will be gratefully accepted towards the full restoration of the organ in the future. For more information about the church, see their website.
The organ is of note, as it was originally installed in the home of Townsend Palmer, one of the wealthiest industrialists in Middletown, CT in the early 20th century. There is much fascinating history of the Palmer family and the organ that will be shared at the concert.
