(December 10, 2024) — Oddfellows Playhouse Junior Repertory Company 2025 has announced that auditions for “Coraline,” adapted from the novella by Neil Gaiman and directed by Dan Schmidt, will be held on December 16, 2024 and December 19, 2024 for actors and movers ages 12 to 14 looking for an exciting and dynamic performance experience this winter.
Based on Neil Gaiman’s 2002 dark fantasy, “Coraline” follows the titular character as she and her parents move into a new home, surrounded by eccentric new neighbors and a nameless black cat. Exploring the house, Coraline discovers a strange door that leads to an enticing (yet sinister) parallel world controlled by the Beldam (a button-eyed version of her own mother.) Coraline must navigate this “Other World” and save herself, her parents, and the souls of other children trapped there before her “Other Mother” sews buttons into her eyes, too! “Coraline” is a coming-of-age story that examines bravery, the drawbacks of always getting what you want, and the importance of found family.
Auditions on both days will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Oddfellows Playhouse, 128 Washington Street, Middletown. Anyone wishing to audition should be aware of the following:
