James S. Larkin

It is with overwhelming heartbreak that the family of James Larkin announces his passing on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the age of 48 years.
James will forever be remembered as the beloved husband of Jennifer Lynn (Jacques) Larkin and the incredible father of Emma, Abigail and Nathan Larkin of Higganum, Conn. James was born in New Britain, Conn., as loving son of John and Bonnie (MacGregor) Larkin of Stonington, Conn.
For 20 years, James was a revered and respected teacher at Haddam-Killingworth High School and served with a passion as a coach for the boys’ soccer team, the girls’ golf team and the track team. His strong connection with his students was extraordinary and inspiring. James also served with the Army National Guard, 141 Medical Co. in New Britain, and was an honors graduate from the Primary Education Leadership Program.
For his entire life, James was adored and admired as a son, brother, husband, father and friend. James had the unique ability to make anyone laugh and his spirit and energy were infectious – his love and vitality will never be forgotten, and his legacy will live on in every single life that he touched.
In addition to his wife, children and parents, he is survived by his brother John Scott Larkin and his wife Brenda Larkin of Rocky Hill, Conn. and their children, John Tyler and Kevin; sister Kathleen Larkin McAneany and her husband Tim McAneany of Madison, CT and their children, Erin and Ryan; and his sister-in-law Amy Jacques-Purdy, her husband Brian Purdy of Haddam, CT and their children Samuel and Andrew.
A memorial service will be held at Haddam-Killingworth High School to honor and celebrate James’ life – all students, former and present, along with faculty and friends are invited to join in this celebration.
