Submitted by Kate Porch, Publicity Committee, MHVC
(June 9, 2022)—At our recent spring concert, the Middlesex Hospital Vocal Chords (MHVC) awarded grants to the following graduating seniors:
- Julia Farnoli, graduating from Westbrook High School, will be attending the nursing program at the University of Connecticut.
- Madeline Keithan, graduating from Haddam-Killingworth High School, will be attending CONN College, majoring in Music Production/Technology.
In considering a grant award, the scholarship committee looks at the students’ academic records, extracurricular/community service activities, the ability to articulate career goals and the recommendations of references. We commend these students for their achievements and wish them the best as they continue on their journey.
To date, MHVC has awarded $76,000 in annual grants to area seniors pursuing a career in either music or nursing. This is made possible by your continued support via ticket sales and contributions to our annual Patron Drive. Thanks to all who have contributed and attended our concerts. With the recent retirement of our longtime Music Director, Gina Fredericks, the executive board has named the Annual Music Grant in her honor. Thank you, Gina for your dedication to the group and your continued support.
Rehearsals for our Holiday Concert will resume on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. For more information, please visit our website at vocalchords20.org and/or visit us on Facebook. Don’t forget to like us while you are there!
