(September 14, 2022) —Chairwoman Kristen Roberts of the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce has announced that the Chamber’s 126th Annual Awards Dinner will take place on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at the Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station in Haddam.
During the Annual Awards Dinner, the Chamber’s 2022 Chief Michael L. Green Award winner will be honored. Each year, the Chamber presents this award to a member of the police or fire community for his or her outstanding service to the community and to the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce. The 2022 Chief Michael L. Green Award Recipient is Middletown Police Captain David Godwin.
Middlesex Chamber President Larry McHugh noted, “We look forward to once again honoring a member of our police and fire communities for their outstanding service and dedication. Captain David Godwin has contributed to making Middletown a safe place to live and work, and for that we are truly grateful.”
The chamber also will recognize Past Chamber Chairwoman Maureen Westbrook, as well as the 2022 Distinguished Citizen Award Winners.
David Godwin (photo above) was born and raised in Middletown. He is a graduate of Middletown High School. Prior to being hired as a Middletown Police Officer in 1994, he was a volunteer at Middlesex Memorial Hospital, a volunteer firefighter at South Fire District, a Middletown Police Explorer and a Middletown Auxiliary Police Officer. In February of this year, Captain Godwin oversaw the creation of the Middletown Police Activity League (PAL), of which he is currently the President. In July, Godwin was promoted to Captain. He was entrusted to implement the newly-created Community Services Division within the Middletown Police Department. He is currently serving in that role.
