In this series, we will introduce you to all eleven members of the Regional School District #17’s Board of Education for 2017-2019.
Joel D’Angelo, Democrat from Killingworth, was first elected to the Board of Education six years ago. He spent two of those years serving as the Chairman, and two of those years serving as Treasurer. He is currently serving on the Personnel & Evaluation committee, the Strategic Capital Planning Committee, and the Policy committee.
After earning his Ph.D in Biology from Wesleyan University, Joel began teaching at Hopkins School in New Haven. He recently became Dean of Faculty after teaching there for 15 years, but still teaches one section of Biology. Joel and his wife have lived in Killingworth for 10 years. They have a daughter who currently attends Killingworth Elementary School.
“I truly believe the greatest gift we can give our children is an outstanding education that not only challenges but also promotes the growth of mind, body, and spirit,” said Joel.
