Family Fun
Bookmark Scavenger Hunt – March 6, through April 14, 2023. Collect bookmarks for a chance to win a prize! For six weeks from March into April, the library will hand out bookmarks featuring different endangered species, a different design each week. Collect at least four of the six designs and email a photo of yourself holding the bookmarks to be entered into the final prize drawing. The winner will be announced on April 17, 2023.
St. Patrick’s Day Pajama Storytime – Thursday, March 16, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. Come dressed to cuddle and bring your favorite stuffed animal! Family members of all ages are welcome. Please register in advance, so we know how many friends to expect.

Library Tips ‘n’ Tricks with Tammy continues! March’s topic is How to Find the Library’s New Items. Classes will be held on Wednesdays, alternating morning and afternoon sessions. Laptops will be provided, for individual practice. The class repeats each week, so register for the session that works for you!
Killingworth Seniors: Watch for details on an upcoming Senior Day! This will be an opportunity to craft, learn some new skills, and explore what the library has to offer. More information will become available at the library, online, and in local news sources. Registration will be required.
Special Event
Ending the Silence– Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. Presented by the shoreline chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. This is a free, evidence-based, youth mental health education and early intervention program that engages audience members in a discussion about mental health based on real-life experiences. In this one-hour presentation, audience members will learn about mental health through a brief informative presentation, short videos, discussion groups, as well as personal testimony from a parent’s perspective and a young adult who describes their journey to recovery. This program is geared towards parents and caregivers of middle or high school-aged youth. It includes information about signs, facts & statistics, helpful tips on how to talk with your child, and how to work with school staff. It also provides connections to local, statewide, and national resources. Space is limited, so please register in advance. Snow date: Sunday, March 17, 2023.
New Resources at the Killingworth Library
Palace Project E-books and E-audios. Along with Hoopla and Libby, the Palace Project is another great source of e-books and e-audios, available on iOS and Android devices. Killingworth library card holders get access to a robust collection – numbering over 20,000 items – courtesy of the Connecticut State Library, plus open-access books, including plenty of classics. VetNow. The library is pleased to announce the launch of the VetNow database – support for Killingworth’s veterans and their families with navigating the VA bureaucracy, providing academic tutoring, and employment transition assistance. This resource is available to all Killingworth residents with a library card and is accessible from any desktop or mobile device. To get started, visit the library’s website and click on the VetNow icon. Killingworth’s Veterans Representative, Dick Mason, will be holding office hours at the Killingworth Library on Thursday, March 16, 2023, from Noon-3:00 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
