(May 24, 2024) — Brainerd Memorial Library has received a new book shipment, and this time we highlight some of our new romance selections.
The King of Sins is a tense, romantic series based on the seven deadly sins. For those who don’t know or don’t remember, they are: Wrath, Pride, Greed, Sloth, Envy, Gluttony and Lust. These seven sins are what many believe are the main sins that characterize human beings.
Ana Huang, a best-selling author across several genres, wrote a romance series about them. Each book in the series is about one of the sins embodying a smoldering billionaire, who learns to control his sin with the help of an independent, driven woman. Huang made sure to create a strong female character in each book who flourishes on her own in the world while navigating relationship dilemmas. The King of Sins is a series where readers can escape into a world of riches and dreams and experience the world of these characters.
Funny Feelings by Tarah Dewitt. “What they lack in knowing, we make up for in showing,” In the world of love, we might not always know how to convey our feelings verbally, but we can do so by showing love through our actions.
Dewitt creates a story where the characters do just that. Meyer is a single dad to a deaf daughter, while also being the manager for an up-and-coming comedienne named Farley. He falls fast and hard for Farley but cannot communicate his feelings to her. However, Farley is also having a difficult time expressing her desire for her manager. The two are forced into an awkward, unlikely situation in order to promote Farley in the comedy world. As a result, they realize that sometimes words aren’t needed to express oneself.
Dreamland Billionaires by Lauren Asher mixes opportunity with romance. This three-book series follows three cunning brothers who must complete challenges set for them by their late grandfather in order to earn their share of an inheritance. Along the way, they meet and work with women who dare them to fall in love. The titles in the series are: The Fine Print, Final Offer, and Terms and Conditions. Each book is a stand-alone book, but is interconnected with the others. This series has a substantial following on TikTok with more than ten million posts.
