Representative Christine Palm is the clear choice this November.

My family and I moved to Higganum in August 2020. At the time, we researched the priorities of our state delegation, their records, and their character.

Representative Palm hit the mark on all three.

Priorities: Representative Palm is incredibly well-versed on all subjects, especially the environment, economic issues for vulnerable populations, and gender equality. These issues are both personally important to members of our community, and universally important for our state, country and world. Any time a new issue arises, I have full confidence that Representative Palm will thoughtfully research, listen and engage with members of our community.

Record: On the environment – a clear priority on which our river community relies for tourism and quality of life – Representative Palm has attacked aquatic invasives and ensured our children have access to climate change curriculum. On economic issues, she worked with State Senator Norm Needleman to invest more than $750,000 in Higganum’s downtown at a moment when we are collectively trying to figure out how to develop appropriately. She also worked across the aisle to help constituents in need during the pandemic. Finally, she is squarely for women’s reproductive rights. She has not wavered. She has not flip-flopped. She has not avoided the issue. She is firmly pro-women’s healthcare. That type of clarity is essential now, as we rely heavily on our state officials to protect rights.

Character: Having worked in Hartford, I know how difficult it can be to get priorities passed through the legislative process. You have to be assertive, thoughtful, relentless and smart. Representative Palm can navigate the legislative world to fight for all of us in Haddam. She’ll never take a back seat and she’ll work to encourage collaboration and trust.

We are lucky to have such a hard-working State Representative. We should re-elect Christine on November 8th.

Hamish MacPhail, Higganum
