Letter to the Editor: Senior Handbook

The views stated here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the editors of this newspaper. We welcome supporting or opposing views on any published item. Received February 3, 2023.

Many of you in our town may remember the “Senior Handbook” being published by the, now defunct, monthly “Haddam Bulletin.”  The Committee on Aging has obtained permission from Mr. Ed Schwing to publish it again as an insert in the Haddam Killingworth News.  We have updated it and added a few more organizations that we hope you find helpful. It will be part of the February 9, 2023 print edition.

We purposely picked the Winter for its publication as many seniors may be in need of a little help with fuel, electricity, medical paperwork or just want to get out of the house for a hot meal at the Senior Center, where they might want to join in on a game of cards or work on a puzzle.  You will note that we made an effort to list all the important town departments with their phone extensions.  Also please be reminded that if you have a medical appointment anywhere in Middlesex County, our senior van is available to pick you up at your house and take you there. Just call the number in the Senior Handbook the day before.

Sincerely, R. Thurston Clark, Chairman, Haddam Committee On Aging
