Mr. Munster’s recent letter to the editor was extremely provocative, so I decided to check if what he said was true.
I looked online at the town’s website and found a copy of the Haddam board of finance’s proposed town budget for next year.
To my amazement, it was Mr. Munster, not the Haddam Bulletin that was making misleading and FALSE statements.
The town’s website said that Haddam residents will be paying 11.2% more for government services and 1.5% less for schools next year, if the proposed budget is approved.
And, I understand that if residents approved the 2nd RSD17 referendum on June 4, that school spending for Haddam residents will actually decline even more next year.
Not sure where Mr. Munster gets his information but I would suggest he double-checks his facts before accusing other people of misleading you.

That is taking into account the Capital plan. We must fix our roads, and have proper first responder equipment. We cannot continue to kick the can down the road and neglect these needs. The overall increase is 1.43% I believe. Considering our education costs, I think Haddam leaders are doing a great job.
