To the Editor:

When I first moved to Killingworth 25 years ago, I found town politics a bewildering mess of controversy and contention that was cloaked in rumor and innuendo. With Cathy Iino as First Selectwoman, we have moved beyond most of that unpredictable governance, in my opinion, to a point where conspiracy theories no longer rule the day.

I am grateful that issues that affect all of Killingworth’s residents have been on the table as a steady diet for some years now. I believe that as First Selectwoman, Cathy Iino has been a driving force in that transformation.

Prior to her initial election ten years ago I had my reservations about her as a candidate. My fears in that regard were put to rest when I realized she has been the only First Selectperson in my memory who treats the position as a full-time job. As a result of her attitude Cathy Iino has managed to introduce a new level of professionalism to that position; something that was severely lacking in the past. It is an achievement to be proud of. I urge all thoughtful voters to cast their ballots on November 5th for Cathy Iino, our first full-time First Selectperson.

In addition, I would be remiss if I did not mention that her running mate, incumbent Selectman Lou Annino Jr., has been and remains a perfect fit for our town’s future. His nearly 30 years of facilities management experience including Yale University, Bayer Corporation and currently as the Chief Facilities Officer at the University of New Haven makes him uniquely qualified to maintain the responsible path forward for Killingworth that he helped pioneer with our long-term Capital Plan. His credentials are impeccable and his concern for our town unimpeachable.
