I am pleased to support Renee LaMark Muir as my candidate for State Representative in the 36th Assembly District. Renee is a longtime member of the Deep River community and has an astute understanding of issues that concern local residents. She is a strong advocate for young families and seniors, affordable housing, women’s healthcare, the environment, and safe communities. She understands that increased energy and food costs have been a burden on local residents, and she is committed to addressing their concerns. Her extensive experience as an analyst in the Connecticut General Assembly has prepared her to be a leader in the legislative process from day one, which is clearly an asset for our local towns.

Renee Muir also has expertise in law enforcement and criminal justice. She served as a detective in the Hartford Police Department and is well versed on legal issues, police accountability, and safety in our communities. Who could dispute the value of that experience to her constituents? Despite recent criticism that her law enforcement experience does not translate to our local towns, one can be certain that Renee would know how to problem-solve any safety issue effectively and address it legislatively. Whether it concerns our children in school, drivers on the road, local business owners, homebound seniors, or neighbors with a medical emergency, we all need protection.

Finally, Renee Muir is committed to preserving the beauty and quality of the natural environment in our community. She recognizes the economic value to our towns and the need to protect the environment legislatively. She also recognizes the urgent need to address climate change and to reduce the cost of extensive storm damage to the state. Renee LaMark Muir is a leader for our time. She has my vote.
