One of the main reasons that I love living in Killingworth is that this is a real community where people can get involved to improve the town. First Selectman Cathy Iino is one of the main reasons this community works so well. As many other people have experienced, you can move to town and quickly feel that you’re a part of the community. Due to Cathy’s caring and inclusive outreach my husband and I became involved in several community organizations and boards within a few months of moving here. The more involved we get, the more we realize how many people have been positively influenced and engaged by Cathy’s quiet, unassuming and competent style of hands-on governance. One of her many leadership qualities is knowing how to ask people to make contributions that fit their interests and skills. The results show how effective that approach can be in a small town.
Cathy makes sure she is in attendance at local events, from town celebrations of holidays to library programs, the farmers market, and senior citizen, Scout and other civic organization functions. At the same time, she keeps well informed at the regional and state level, never losing sight of the big picture in terms of the effect of state politics on our town.
Please join me in voting to keep this seasoned competent leader at the helm in Killingworth. Be sure to get out to vote for Cathy Iino on Nov. 5.
