To The Editor:
I plan to vote for Norm Needleman for re-election to the State Senate.
Senator Needleman has almost two decades of experience in local and state government and is the founder of a successful business. He has served the town of Essex as a First Selectman and Selectman, after serving on the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Economic Development Commission. He has also been a member of the Lower Connecticut River Valley Council of Governments.
I believe this experience provides him with the expertise to make sound decisions for CT and to prepare our state for the future.
As chair of the Energy and Technology Committee, Senator Needleman supports a “green
economy” to protect the environment and to create jobs. He prides himself in “common-sense legislation” to guide CT into the future. His proposed legislation has had broad bipartisan support and all bills were successfully passed last year after leaving committee.
Senator Needleman has also been an advocate for consumers.
Most recently he addressed the poor emergency response to Tropical Storm Isaias by Eversource, held public hearings, and proposed legislation to hold them accountable for prolonged outages. The legislation would impose penalties and allow consumers to pursue refunds for damages. We need strong leadership to regulate utility companies and to
protect consumers from unreasonable rate hikes.
We also need experienced legislators who are committed to an improved utility system for the future. Experience matters.
That is why I support Senator Norm Needleman for re-election.
