Letter to the Editor: In Support of Bob Siegrist for Town Clerk

The views stated here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the editors of this newspaper. We welcome supporting or opposing views on any published item. Received October 22, 2021.

I’m writing in response to Audrey Brooke’s letter in the Haddam News.

  • Her thoughts/question regarding Bob Siegrist’s experience to perform the duties of Town Clerk; My question back to you is did your husband have any experience when he first ran against Dawn Tarbetsky in 2013? I’m sure you voted for him even though he had no experience. I think everyone deserves a chance.
  • Her thoughts/question about why Bob didn’t get re-elected and all “those things” he did as rep; There were many progressives from Essex, Chester and Deep River who hated the former president and voted the whole party line out, however Bob did win his hometown of Haddam and helped our community move forward.

Some of “those things” while Bob served as State Rep in Hartford:  His accomplishments were to upgrade the Valley Shore Emergency Communications (911) for his district, and fought relentlessly for clean water in Tylerville, helped secure senior housing at Kirkland Commons in Deep River. Just to name a few.

He served on several committees; CT Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Public Safety & Security and Insurance & Real Estate. He helped many constitutes while serving.

Bob has the education, passion, energy and accountability to perform the duties of Town Clerk. He is more than qualified to perform the duties on day one.  I am proud of what Bob Siegrist did for our town and community, not only as State Rep but as my son.

Please consider voting for Bob on November 2nd.

Debra Siegrist
Resident of Higganum
