I am writing in support of William Tobelman’s candidacy for the Killingworth Planning and Zoning Commission.

Bill worked for (and with) me for 27 years at Aplicare Incorporated (a medical manufacturing company formerly based in Meriden CT. Aplicare was purchased by the Clorox Company in 2012).

Aplicare was a fast-growing company, managed by a tight operations management group. My role was Production and Continuous Improvement Manager. Bill was our Warehouse/Logistics and Sterilization Manager.

Bill and his team acted as owners of their organization and required little direction as they managed large, complex facilities including Logistics, Distribution and Sterilization. As an OTC drug company, it was vital that we adhered to FDA rules and regulations. Bill was directly involved in many successful FDA audits.

As the company grew, Bill managed a changing footprint as manufacturing needs pushed into existing warehouse space. He deftly reorganized the burgeoning inventory growth and enabled improved processes to solve the challenge.

We embraced Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement methodologies to grow the company. Bill ran a team that reduced inventory of a critical component (povidone iodine) leading to a savings of $85,000/month; one of our most successful initiatives.

Bill is a staunchly ethical manager and a person of high morals. Other strengths of Bill’s beneficial to all aspects of town governance include collaborative leadership, regulatory expertise, attention to detail and very effective organizational skills.

I am honored to be a friend of Bill and I believe he would be an asset to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Regards,
