I would like to introduce myself to the Killingworth community as a Democratic candidate for Board of Finance. My name is Bill Kosturko and I’ve lived in Killingworth with my wife Jane for ten years.

I found in retirement a need to use my professional experience to serve my community and organizations whose missions I deeply believe in. For 30 years I worked as an executive in the Connecticut banking industry. At various times I managed the finance, audit, and legal departments of People’s United Bank. This provided a working knowledge of budgeting, auditing, accounting, finance and planning issues. My responsibility for government relations at the bank required me to interact with federal, state, and local regulatory authorities and officials. I will use all this experience in a cooperative and constructive way in service to Killingworth.

Since retirement, I have enjoyed spending time in volunteer activities. I remain a trustee at Saint Martin de Porres Academy in New Haven, where I have also served as board chairman and as girls basketball coach. St. Martin’s provides robust educational and cultural opportunities to inner-city children. I am a member of the board of trustees of Connecticut Hospice in Branford and a member of AARP’s National Policy Council in Washington.

A Bridgeport native, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and have a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania. I’d appreciate the opportunity to direct my energies in my community through service on the Board of Finance.

Bill Kosturko, Killingworth
