We reached out to both the Haddam Republican Town Committee and the Haddam Democratic Town Committee and asked candidates to respond to a set of questions. Updates from all candidates are welcome, and are being published as Letters to the Editor. This is one such letter.

I have lived in Higganum for 13 years and have been married to my wife Sharon for 33 years. We have a son and daughter-in-law and three grandchildren. I am well-qualified to serve on the Board of Finance as my career included employment at The Travelers Insurance Company, General Electric, Keane, and Aetna Insurance Company where I had financial and operations responsibilities and experience preparing and managing budgets of up to $35 million dollars.
Since retiring in 2013, I have been a Moderator for Haddam elections, in addition to serving as an alternate on the Board of Finance. I feel this is a good time to step up and serve as a full member on the Board of Finance.
I believe it is important to maintain our infrastructure such as roads and bridges in a cost-effective manner, while assuring that our Fire and Public Works Departments have the proper equipment that they require to safely do their jobs and to provide services to our residents. By managing our limited financial resources effectively, we can maintain our high AAA bond rating and provide the roads and services that we all need.
I love the rural character and charm of Haddam and have made many great friends here. Living near the Connecticut River gives us a lot of opportunities to enjoy nature.
I ask for your support in November so I can continue this important work on the Board of Finance.
