Letter to the Editor: Bring Back Killingworth Library Children’s Librarian

We are writing this letter in regards to Gayle Byrne being laid off from her position as Children’s Librarian. In June of 2020, after 20 years of employment, the library board unexpectedly laid Gayle off from her position. It appears that there are funds for this position in this year’s budget.  So why did this happen?  We created a petition to show that the Children’s Library position should be reinstated and that Gayle Byrne should continue to fulfill her role.  The youth of Killingworth deserve a dedicated librarian to serve their needs.  Gayle has been an invaluable asset to our children growing up, this next generation deserves the same.  If you agree, please read and sign this petition.
