Letter to the Editor: Black Lives Matter Sign Stolen

The views stated here are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the editors of this newspaper.

Dear Editor:

Anyone who studies history knows that poor black communities in this country have forever been victimized by white vigilantes, white-dominated police forces using excessive force, white-owned businesses that raise prices in communities with limited mobility, and by white-dominated government that under funds their schools. Black Lives Matter is the latest peaceful protest movement against racial injustice.  We placed a Black Lives Matter yard sign on our property on Route 81 in Killingworth on June 22.  It was stolen within 24 hours, violating our private property and our right to free speech.  Theft is not peaceful protest.  Racial injustice is everywhere in our country, including Haddam and Killingworth.

Sincerely,

Lynn and Rob Clark
Killingworth, CT
