At 1:40 p.m. Jan. 20, 2019, Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company responded to a motor vehicle accident on Route 80 near Hemlock Drive. A driver heading westbound lost control of his vehicle while traveling down an icy section of road and struck another vehicle heading eastbound. That vehicle, which received impact on the driver’s side, slid sideways into a guard rail. The other vehicle continued on for about ¼ mile, stopping in a ditch.
The operators of both vehicles were evaluated on scene and received no additional medical treatment.
Crews blocked all westbound traffic at the Route 80 and Route 81 intersection during the incident.
This was the second motor vehicle accident that KVFC responded to today.
