Killingworth residents: Please take a brief on-line housing survey

By Cathy Iino, First Selectwoman, Killingworth

The Committee on Alternative Housing urges you to respond to this survey on housing needs in the region.

The Board of Selectmen created the Committee on Alternative Housing in response to concerns we heard from community members about the kinds of housing available in Killingworth. We had heard from residents whose adult children could not afford to live in town, from empty nesters who wanted to remain in town but could not find the kind of housing they want here, from homeowners who believe that a more varied housing stock would improve real estate values over all. On the other hand, many residents have said they are satisfied with the current range of housing available.

We charged the committee, first, to conduct a housing needs assessment, looking community desires, affordability, sustainability, and consistency with the Killingworth Plan of Conservation and Development. The committee decided to participate in a regional survey being conducted by the Lower Connecticut River Valley Council of Governments, which will provide town-specific data. We hope this will provide insight into the perspectives of our residents.

Please take a few minutes to respond to the survey and make your own views known. Just click “OK” to get started.
