Pearl Harbor: the Stories Behind the Story with Phil Devlin
Phil Devlin presents another fascinating program on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at 7:00 p.m., via Zoom.
This popular presentation not only deals with the numerous, interesting Connecticut connections to the infamous sneak attack on Pearl Harbor, but also deals with the often overlooked historical antecedents of the attack—a battle in the Russo-Japanese War as well as a surprise attack in Italy during World War II—which render the attack in Hawaii not as big of a surprise as it has been portrayed. The huge role that the Japanese obsession with oil played in the attack is also discussed.
This program will be held via Zoom. Registrants will receive an email the day of the program, with instructions on how to access the presentation online. Please sign up in advance on the Calendar page on the library’s website – killingworthlibrary.org – or call the library at 860-663-2000.
Saturday Storytimes Continue at Killingworth Library
Cold winter weather is fast approaching, and we know both parents and children are eager to keep in touch with the new friends they’ve made at our outdoor sessions, so in November our Saturday Storytimes will transform into live group readalongs via Zoom! Participants check out the featured book and Take-and-Make Craft from the library, then tune in at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday for a read-along, crafting fun, and a chance to say “Hi” to their friends! Books and supplies are limited, so please register in advance on the Calendar page on the library’s website – killingworthlibrary.org – or call the library at 860-663-2000. Our December sessions:
12/04/21 – Lunch by Denise Fleming
12/11/21 – Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson
12/18/21 – Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss (includes a Grinchy holiday craft)
