We first talked about the Front Porch Project in the April 18 article, Still MORE Signs of Our H-K Community Pulling Together During COVID 19. Erin Hansted and Elysia Piscitelli have picked up their cameras, and are using their amateur photography skills to take pictures of Killingworth families on their front porches or in their front yards, from a safe distance.
It’s part of a national movement formed very loosely by amateur photographers during the COVID-19 pandemic, which includes giving back to the community.
They have started taking photos around Killingworth and have given us permission to share some of them here. They also have a Facebook page to share the photos if you want to see more.
If you live in Killingworth and are interested in having a picture of your family taken from a distance, you can email Erin at Erin274@yahoo.com with your name and address so that they can make a schedule. Or message them on their Facebook page.
All they are asking for are donations to the HK Backpack Program, which provides food to children in need in our community. The HK Backpack Program is taking mostly monetary donations at this time, because it’s been difficult to get specific things at grocery stores lately. At this time, they are supporting 12-15 families in the Haddam Killingworth community. If you would like to donate to the HK Backpack Program, you can go to this page. The Front Porch Project is also taking donations for medical workers.
“It’s wonderful how much support we get from our community,” said Amber Stamm, founder of the HK Backpack Program.
Do we have any amateur photographers who would like to start the project in Haddam?
