Killingworth Charter Revision Survey

By Cathy Iino, Killingworth First Selectman.

The Killingworth Charter Revision Commission, established last year, is reviewing the Killingworth Town Charter and will recommend revisions later this year for the town to vote on. The Charter was last revised in 2009.

The commission is conducting an online survey at surveymonkey.com/r/PJ9Z3H2. For a paper copy of the survey, please call the Killingworth Town Hall at 860-663-1765.

The Killingworth Town Charter itself is available on the town website, Townofkillingworth.com, under “Killingworth Code of Laws.”

The Commission is taking a broad look at the existing charter, from outdated provisions to the range of alternative forms of government. They welcome input from all residents of Killingworth, and there are many opportunities to contribute to the charter revision process.

The Commission’s meetings are being held remotely and are open to the public. The schedule, agendas, and log-on information are all available at townofkillingworth.com (go to “Schedule of Meetings” in the Calendars section).

Members of the Commission would also be happy to talk with you individually. Write to them at killingworthcharterrevision@gmail.com.

At least two public hearings will be scheduled, probably online, before the charter revisions are put to a town-wide vote.

I urge you to share your thoughts on what works in the charter and what doesn’t, and what could be better. The survey will be open until Friday, February 19, 2021.
