(March 12, 2020) — The Killingworth Library and Brainerd Memorial Library have announced changes due to government recommendations because of the threat of the Coronavirus.

The Brainerd Memorial Library postponed its Book Sale to September, and released the following notice:

All library programs and community meetings/groups are cancelled or postponed effective March 11 through the end of April, 2020. This includes tutoring sessions and any kind of community gatherings in the library.
As Governor Lamont has issued a state of emergency for Connecticut related to the outbreak of the Covid-19 corona virus, libraries are being instructed by municipalities to begin initiating precautionary measures. Our response is to continue to disinfect the premises and all equipment, but to provide computers, materials, and services to patrons onsite until further notice.
The library please urges the community to continue to practice recommended health practices such as frequent, thorough hand-washing with soap and water and not visiting the library if you are ill.
We will continue to provide information as it comes in and support the community throughout this event.
The Killingworth Library has not changed any programming/events yet, however, they have released the following notice:
The Killingworth Library takes the health of its patrons, volunteers and staff seriously. The library receives professional cleaning services two times per week, and keyboards, doorknobs, and other “high contact” surfaces are cleaned daily. We ask all our patrons to be considerate of others and to stay home if you are not feeling well. If you have items due, they can be renewed on line, or just call the library at 860-663-2000 and we will assist you.
We hope that our patrons will continue to take advantage of our extensive collection of online resources: e-audiobooks, e-books, music, movies, Consumer Reports and many other educational resources are available to all cardholders, just contact the library at the number above if you need assistance.
The library will continue to remain open and will keep you apprised of any changes to our hours or programming schedule.
Check back for updates.
