June is Dog Licensing Month

Submitted by Bob Siegrist, Haddam Town Clerk

(May 4, 2024) — The Town Clerk’s Office would like to remind pet owners that Connecticut law mandates that all dogs over six months of age must be licensed in the town in which they reside, and must wear their tags.

All dogs licensed in the State of Connecticut require a current rabies vaccination. Licensing begins on June 1, 2024. After June 30, 2024, a $1.00 per month penalty will be imposed pursuant to Sec. 22-338 of the Connecticut General Statutes. Pet owners will be receiving renewal notices in the mail soon.

Fee Schedule:

Neutered/Spayed: $8

Male/Female: $19

Late Penalty: $1 per month

We now accept credit/debit cards at the Town Clerk’s Office. Please note that there is a 3% processing fee, and we do not accept American Express. Our hours at the Town Clerk’s Office are:

Monday – Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Friday: 8:30 a.m. – Noon

If you are licensing a dog by mail, please provide a copy of your current/updated rabies information, updated spayed/neutered certificate, and a check. Do not send cash. Include your name, address, phone number, the dog’s name, age, breed, and color.

Make check payable to Town of Haddam with a self-addressed stamped return envelope. Mail to: Town Clerk’s Office, 30 Field Park Drive, Haddam CT 06438

Please advise us if:

1. You are no longer a resident here.
