Submitted by Cheryl Czuba

(August 17, 2023) — Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Adopt-a-Park volunteers are collaborating with the Connecticut River Conservancy’s Source to Sea for a trash pickup and invasive plant cleanup on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to Noon, with a rain date of September 30th. The event will take place at the beautiful Haddam Meadows State Park.  We’ll meet at the first picnic area closest to the middle parking lot (same as last spring). We’ll focus on removing invasives around trees and picking up trash along the paths and river.

Adults, and youth under 16 years of age accompanied by an adult, are   encouraged to participate.  Please dress for the weather. Wear waterproof boots, bring garden loppers or saw, insect repellent, sunscreen, water, and first aid supplies. Refreshments will be served. Do not bring pets. Volunteers with dump trucks with Haddam Transfer Station stickers are needed.

This event is being planned by DEEP Adopt-a-Park Volunteers: Jamie Burgess, Deborah Cooney, Cherry Czuba, Joanne DelCioppo-McHugh, Richard Gill, Mary Lou Heger, and David Stiles.

Please register by emailing Cherry Czuba at cherylczuba@comcast.net .
