Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to two motor vehicle accidents on May 17, 2020.
At 10:05 a.m., HVFC was dispatched to Ponsett Road for a car vs. tree incident. Upon arrival, crews encountered a fully-involved vehicle fire. The operator managed to self-extricate with minor injuries. Firefighters extinguished the fire with a line from Engine 3-13. Crews blocked the road using Engine 6-13 and Rescue 5-13. Once the vehicle was removed, the scene was turned over to the Connecticut State Police.
At 4:45 p.m., crews from Haddam and Chester Hose Company responded to a motorcycle accident on Route 9 North between exits 7 and 8. The operator was found on the shoulder of the break-down lane and the vehicle was laying near guard rails in the passing lane. Haddam Ambulance Service provided patient care and transported the driver to Hartford Hospital. Crews closed one lane of traffic during the incident.
