HVFC Responds to Two Motor Vehicle Accidents

By Olivia Drake, HVFC Information Officer

(February 6, 2023) — Haddam Volunteer Fire Company has responded to two motor vehicle accidents so far this month.

At 4:30 p.m. on February 5, 2024, crews were dispatched to Killingworth Road near Brault Hill Road for an accident involving three vehicles. A truck, heading northbound, struck the car in front of it, which struck the back of another truck. Two patients were transported to Middlesex Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance and Chester Ambulance Service. Two other people involved in the accident refused additional medical treatment. The north-bound lane of traffic was closed during the incident, and both lanes were closed while firefighters cleaned vehicle debris and fluid spills off the road.

At 2:20 p.m. on February 1, 2024, crews from Haddam and Middletown South Fire District responded to a rollover on Route 9 South between exits 19 and 15. A driver struck about 100 feet of guard rail before rolling upside down in an embankment. The driver was able to self-extricate and was transported to Middlesex Hospital via Haddam Volunteer Ambulance Service. Crews closed both lanes of traffic but allowed traffic to flow in the shoulder during the incident.

Both accidents are under investigation by the Connecticut State Police.
