(July 11, 2021) Haddam Volunteer Fire Company and Chester Hose Company Inc. responded to a vehicle fire at 7 p.m. July 11 on Route 9 South between exits 7 and 8. All occupants safely exited the vehicle before it fully ignited. They were evaluated on scene by Haddam Volunteer Ambulance Service personnel, and all refused additional medical treatment.

Crews used a single line off Haddam’s Engine 1-13 to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters closed both lanes of Route 9 while the fire was being extinguished. Traffic resumed on the right shoulder until the vehicle was towed. The cause of the fire is unknown. Photos by Olivia Drake, HVFC.
