HVFC Responds: Brush Fire Near North End of Haddam Meadows April 8, 2021

By Olivia Drake, HVFC.

Haddam Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a brush fire at 9:30 p.m. April 7 in a wooded area near the north end of Haddam Meadows State Park. Crews accessed the fire from a dirt road off Saybrook Road. Firefighters used brush rakes and hose lines from three vehicles to extinguish an approximately 50-foot-wide fire. Crews also felled and saturated a 30-foot tall tree that was burning. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
