HVFC Responded to Seven Calls for Emergency Services Yesterday

By Olivia Drake, HVFC Public Information Officer.

Haddam Volunteer Fire Company responded to a total of seven calls for emergency services on April 8, 2022, including two motor vehicle accidents, a utility pole fire, a “smell of gas” investigation, and three medicals.
Among these calls was a rollover into Bible Rock Brook at 3:40 p.m. Upon arrival, both occupants were out of the vehicle, and they were evaluated on scene for injuries. Both patients were transported to Middlesex Hospital.
While investigating the vehicle, firefighters noticed a substantial oil and fluid leaking into the brook. Crews climbed into the creek with multiple absorbent booms and attempted to contain and trap the oily fluids. Firefighters also placed a boom at the end of a historic culvert that diverts the water in a tunnel under Saybrook Road.
One lane of traffic was closed during the incident.
