Power was affected in the southern section of Higganum on March 1, 2020 following a motor vehicle accident vs. utility pole. A driver struck a mailbox and then a utility pole, causing it to snap.
The driver self extricated and was evaluated on scene by EMS.
The accident occurred on Killingworth Road south of the Hidden Lake and Old Country Road intersection at approximately 10:45 p.m. Firefighters closed a section of Killingworth Road during the incident until Eversource restored the power and the vehicle was towed. 
The scene was turned over to Connecticut State Police and Eversource. Frontier and Eversource crews spent the next day replacing the pole, while Connecticut State Police provided traffic control.
