HKYFS Offers Activity Bags for Pre-K Children in Our Community

Editorial Staff.

(June 4, 2020) — Karen Pasiuk, Early Childhood Coordinator, at Haddam Killingworth Youth & Family Services was approached by Jessica Guelke, from the Red Barn, who shared an idea for supporting families and their children who are at home due to school closures. Jessica shared that Clinton Early Childhood Council was providing goodie bags for pre-K children in their community, and she wanted to know if the Haddam Killingworth community would like the same opportunity. Karen, and Laurie Ruderfer, the Executive Director of HKYFS thought it was a great idea.

HKYFS will create activity bags “filled with open-ended, fun and easy activities for pre-K children and their families to do over the summer,” explained Karen. “The bags will include such things as recipes to make your own playdough and bubbles, calendars of summer fun ideas, a math activity calendar with a deck of cards for included games, craft projects with materials, books, and more.”

To reserve your bag, call HKYFS at 860-345-7498. When your bag is ready for pick up, you will be contacted. Bags will then be placed in a bin outside HKYFS’s front door at a time and date that is convenient for you. HKYFS is located at 91 Little City Road (the white house in front of Haddam Killingworth High School.

“We are super excited to be able to provide these bags to area families and their young children,” said Karen.
