(May 2, 2023) — Ivy McNiel’s flare into short right field with runners on second and third and two outs glanced off the second baseman’s glove and fell for a hit as both runners scurried home with the tying and winning runs for a 3-2 Haddam Killingworth victory over Cromwell on May 1, 2023.
Cromwell had taken a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning when Grace McFarland doubled, Melena Signorello tripled, and Emma Ribera hit a sacrifice fly. HK got one run back in the sixth on a Keira Czarkowski RBI single.
Kaleigh Bodak was the winning pitcher, picking up her seventh win of the season, striking out nine Cromwell batters. She also had two hits. Lily Kenney took the loss for Cromwell, striking out twelve Cougars. HK is now 8-3 while Cromwell falls to 7-5.
