Girls Lacrosse 2024: HKHS Loses 8-6 to Lyme-Old Lyme

Submitted by Janice Calvi-Ruimerman

(May 17, 2024) — After rescheduling the May 15, 2024 Haddam Killingworth High School Girls Lacrosse home game to Lyme-Old Lyme’s turf field, HK faced the Wildcats in the rain.

In an epic start, the Cougars were in control of the field, with a three-point lead going into the half.  Ella Connelly put the first goal into the net giving HK a 1-0 lead, followed by Ava Ramino to bring HK to a 2-0 score. Next Seanna “SeaSea” Ruimerman launched a back-handed shot for a three-point lead followed by a penalty shot by Ramino leaving the Cougars with a score of 4-1 going into the second half.

But, as it often does on the Old Lyme shoreline, the tide soon turned, as HK was on the receiving end of multiple whistles and penalty calls, quickly moving Lyme-Old Lyme to a 6-point score over HK’s 4 points. Ramino gained two more points, but two more penalties pushed Lyme-Old Lyme to an 8-6 win over HK.

Ball possession on draw is key, and retaining possession is paramount. Keep your sticks up, HK. Goals for this game were earned by Ella Connelly (1); Ava Ramino (4); SeaSea Ruimerman (1)

Great game, Ladies. Remember: control the ball!
