Football 2024: HKHS Defeats Coventry/Windham Tech/Bolton 45-0

By Barth Keck

(November 18, 2024)Five different players scored touchdowns for the Cougars (7-2) against the Coventry/Windham Tech/Bolton Co-Op (1-8) and Haddam-Killingworth High School posted a 45-0 win in a game played in Coventry on Friday, November 15, 2024.

Scott Hosney provided the highlight of the night with a 44-yard scamper, scoring his first touchdown of the year. In addition, Gunnar Howes scored on all four of his two-point conversion runs.

HK’s offense was successful on the ground, scoring four rushing touchdowns, and through the air, tallying two passing TDs thrown by two different quarterbacks. The defense was even more effective, preserving the shutout and allowing Coventry into Cougars territory only twice in the game.
“I’m pleased with the win, of course,” said HK Head Coach Tyler Wilcox, “but we have to play with more energy from the first whistle. The final score of the game does not tell the entire story. We came out flat in the first half, so we provided a little motivation for them at halftime. The kids picked it up from there.”
The Cougars are off until the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (November 26, 2024) when they will host the annual Principals’ Cup game against Valley Regional/Lyme-Old Lyme. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m.
