Our Haddam Killingworth High School Environmental Science class is aiming for positive impact!
In an average school year, HKHS uses almost 2 million pieces of paper to meet the needs of students and teachers. Although this number was reduced a lot over the last few years, HK’s Environmental Science Class is trying to further reduce this impact.
This year, students have partnered with Tree-Plenish to offset the school’s paper usage by selling and planting trees within the local community. One tree yields about 10,000 pieces of paper, so to fully offset our paper usage we have a goal of selling and planting 190 trees this spring. Eastern Redbud, Sugar Maple (ideal for tapping!), and Flowering Dogwood trees will be sold now until March 30, 2022 and can be purchased using the link below.
On Saturday, April 30, 2002, trees will be available for pickup at HK High School between 8:00-11:00 a.m. (more information will come as the date approaches). If you have any questions, please email Emily Milcent (emilcent@rsd17.org).
