(September 26, 2024) — On September 14, 2024 the Haddam Killingworth High School Boys and Girls cross country teams traveled to Attleboro, Massachusetts to compete in the Highland Park Invitational against more than two dozen teams from Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

The Girls team raced well on the 3.1 mile course, overcoming the heat to place first overall as a team in the Varsity race with 39 points.  The Girls were led by Junior Grace Mitchell, who crossed the line in a time of 20:33 to place second in the race and was quickly followed by teammate and Sophomore Charlotte Behnke, who ran 20:44 to place 4th.  Next to cross the line were Junior Amelia Riggs 10th (21:41), Junior Julia Downing 14th (21:52) and Senior co-captain Keira Sehl-Albert 16th (22:20) to round out the team scoring.
The Boys team, missing three of its top runners, also had a strong race, but did not score as a team with only four Varsity runners.  They were led by Senior co-captain Jack Cozean, who placed eighth in the race with a time of 16:52.  Following him was Junior Alex Frederickson 16th (17:51), Sophomore Evan Berardino 21st (18:02) and Junior Anthony Frederickson 24th (18:08).
