Boys Tennis 2024: HKHS Loses to Westbrook 4-3

(May 1, 2024) — The Haddam-Killingworth High School Boys Tennis team was defeated in a close, competitive match played on the Westbrook courts on April 30, 2024.

H-K and Westbrook were tied at three matches each, with the #3 doubles contest going to a deciding third set to determine the winner.  The Cougars won three of the four singles contests, but were swept in the three doubles matches, giving Westbrook the win.

Both H-K’s Joe Wessinger at #3 singles, and Chase Smalley playing in the #4 singles slot, won their hard-fought matches in straight sets.

SINGLES

#2   Bryce Leiberman (H-K) d. Miles Hayden (W) (6-0, 6-1)

#3   Joseph Wessinger (H-K) d. Yareth Antunez (W) (7-5, 6-4)

#4   Chase Smalley (H-K) d. Evan Lessard (W) (6-4, 6-2)

DOUBLES

#1   Freund/Jones (W) d. Stevens/Merwin (H-K) (6-0, 6-1)

#2   Patel/Ford (W) d. Livingston/Frolich (H-K) (6-0, 6-1)

#3   Otrin/Shilling (W) d. Castelli/Lucero (H-K) (5-7, 6-2, 6-2)
