Family Fishing
The Connecticut Aquatic Resources Education (CARE) Program will introduce you and your family to the sport of fishing. State certified instructors will teach you everything you need to know about getting started. You will learn all about tackle and how to tie a special fishing knot. Fish identification, natural baits, regulations and casting are all part of the curriculum. This class is followed by a fishing trip. All equipment is provided. Fee is for administrative services.
The program is for children ages 8 through adult. The program will be held Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. and is $10 per family (non-residents add $5). Class is located at the Care Center in Killingworth on Rt. 80 near Chatfield Hollow State Park.
Special Discount Ticket Programs
Come to the HK Recreation Department to purchase tickets for Six Flags New England, Lake Compounce or the Adventure Park (Storrs or Bridgeport) at a discounted price. Save time and money and avoid waiting in the long ticket lines at the parks. Tickets are good ANY DAY of the season – but please check with the parks to find out the dates they are open to the public.
Six Flags New England Tickets will be available through August 30 at the HK Recreation Office and are good any one day for the ’19 season. The fee is $41 Adults and Juniors (54” and up), which includes a $2 handling fee per ticket. Children under 2 are free. Tickets are good for the whole day. (Regular admission prices are $72 for over 54” and $58 for under 54”).
Lake Compounce Tickets will be available through August 30 at the HK Recreation Office and are good any one day for the ‘19 season. The fee is $31 for Adults and Juniors (52” +), which includes a $2 handling fee per ticket. Children under 3 are free. Tickets are good for the whole day. (Regular admission is $52 for Adults)
Adventure Park (Storrs or Bridgeport) Tickets will be available through August 30 at the HK Recreation Office and are good any one day for the ‘19 season. The fee is $34 for 12 and up, which includes a $2 handling fee per ticket. Tickets are good for the whole day. (Regular admission is $46 at Storrs and $54 at Bridgeport)
CT Science Center Tickets will be available all year and are $17. Adults can save $7 off regular admission.
