This was no April Fool’s Joke! 
On a wet, windy, rainy Saturday, on the first of April 2023, the HKHS Girls Lacrosse team headed out with baked goods in tow, to the center of Higganum, and the Transfer Station in Killingworth. It was to be a Haddam vs. Killingworth challenge, however; Mother Nature had something else in mind. An hour and a half into the sale, the Killingworth site was thwarted by a torrential downpour and a violent burst of wind, sending the team’s tent straight into the Transfer Station. It seemed their sale would be over at that point, but that was not the case. The girls united at the Higganum location and in the rain, danced, sang, and pushed their way to a full team victory, selling out at approximately 11:50 a.m.
The tenacity, creativity and perseverance of these girls led them to raise enough money in four hours to fully subsidize their end of the year banquet. Thanks to the generosity of our Haddam/Killingworth Community, the HKHS Girls Lacrosse Bake Sale was a huge success.
