Senior Lacrosse Girls

(May 21, 2024) — Eight Haddam Killingworth High School Girls Lacrosse Team Seniors took the field on May 17, 2024 for their last in-season game against the Cromwell Panthers.

These girls have played together for years and have created lifelong bonds beyond the field of play. Captains Te’a Norman and Sammy Ruimerman led their senior teammates, Brigitte Battistoni, Aly Campbell, Ella Connelly, Jaimey DiNapoli, Caroline Ignatuk and Peyton Tyler, to centerfield for the senior picture shown above.

Then it was game-on, as tears were traded for ball possession.  HK took a quick lead over Cromwell with two goals from Seanna “SeaSea” Ruimerman to start off. Then came possession on draw for a goal by Samantha “Sammy” Ruimerman, then a steal and goal by Jaimey DiNapoli and another long pass to Aly Campbell for a senior triple play.

But that did not slow HK down, as SeaSea passed to Sammy in the middle for another, and Caroline to Ella for the 8-1 lead over Cromwell. The starters were given a much-needed rest going into the second half and the next defensive line held Cromwell to only five points.

In the fourth quarter, SeaSea hit a penalty shot followed by Sammy for a running play to Aly for a center dunk. Ava Ramino on an intercepted pass sent the ball to Sammy for a goal and another followed, as Sammy ran the ball in for a 12-5 lead over Cromwell. Aly hit the corner of the net for 13 and Brigitte Battistoni stole the ball to ensure possession stayed with HK.

SeaSea held tight with a center hurl to goal, and Sammy ended the play with a steal from the Panthers goalie to bring HK to a 15-5 win over Cromwell.  HK’s defensive line, Te’a Norman, Maddie Catalano, Peyton Tyler, and Brigitte Battistoni, held strong, protecting goalie Gabby Williams, who was a formidable force to be reckoned with at the net.

Goals for this game were earned by Sammy Ruimerman (5); Aly Campbell (4); Ella Connelly (1); Jaimey DiNapoli (1); SeaSea Ruimerman (4)

Great game, Ladies. Way to go, Seniors!
