Boys Track/Girls Track 2023: HKHS Improves to 6-0 with Victories over Lyme-Old Lyme and Westbrook

(May 3, 2023) — On May 2, 2023, the Haddam Killingworth boys and girls track teams traveled to Old Lyme to compete in a tri-meet against Westbrook and Lyme-Old Lyme.  Both HK teams came away with two victories on the day as the boys defeated Westbrook by a score of 111-38 and Lyme-Old Lyme by a score of 98-51 to stay undefeated and improve their dual meet season record to 6-0.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Alex Lara 800 (2:00), Jack Cozean 1600 (4:48) and 3200 (10:21), John Panzera 110 hurdles (16.8) 300 hurdles (44.3) and high jump (5’8″), Ryan Ruggerio pole vault (10’0″) and Ryan Rafferty triple jump (34’11”).  The Boys 4×800 and 4×400 relays were also victorious on the afternoon.

The H-K girls team also went 2-0 on the day to continue their dual meet season undefeated as they defeated Westbrook by a score of 130-19 and beat Lyme-Old Lyme 88-61.  Leading the way for the Cougars were the following event winners: Mariella Fulcher 100 (13.0) and 200 (26.9), Isabel Berardino 1600 (5:40) and 3200 (12:07), Delaney Aronson 300 hurdles (54.4), Leah Chester long jump (15’1″) and triple jump (31’11”), Ana Garcia high jump (4’6″) and Adrianna Garoppolo pole vault (7’0″).  The girls also swept all three relays and as they won the 4×800, 4×100 and 4×400 relays to contribute valuable team points.

 The track teams will next be in action on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, as they host a tri meet against Morgan and Valley.
