(May 3, 2024) — This year, the Town Clerk’s Office will start selling new Transfer Station Passes on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, since June 1st is on a Saturday. Provided below are a few new things you may need to know, as well as a few reminders.
This is the first year that the Town Clerk’s Office is accepting credit/debit cards. Please note that there is a 3% processing fee, and American Express Cards are not accepted. We also accept cash and checks. Please make checks out to: Town of Haddam. They can be mailed to Haddam Town Clerk, 30 Field Park Drive, Haddam, CT 06438
Our hours at the Town Clerk’s Office are:
Monday – Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m. – Noon
To assure that only Haddam residents use the Transfer Station, a current Haddam sticker must be displayed in order to use the facility. Stickers are good for the fiscal year (July through June) and may be purchased for a $100 fee. If you are 65 or older, the fee is $50.00. This is for vehicles of 10,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) or less.
Trucks or vehicles larger than 10,000 lbs. GVW and no more than 14,500 lbs. GVW will be allowed to purchase a pass for $150.00 (Seniors will be charged $75.00)
Buy one Transfer Station Pass, get one at half price (applies to same household only). Please note, there is a limit of two Transfer Station Passes per residence.
A Transfer Station Permit can be obtained at the Town Clerk’s Office with the following:
- Proof of residency in the town of Haddam
- Automobile registration for the vehicle that the sticker will be permanently attached to.
- $100.00 payment OR $50.00 for residents 65 or older. (cash, check or credit cards)
Stickers must be affixed to the front windshield, no exceptions. Vehicles with loose or misplaced stickers will not be allowed at the Transfer Station.
A temporary, two (2) week pass is available for $40.00 with proof of residential ownership in Haddam
After March 1st, the price will be reduced to $45.00 (or $25.00 for 65 and older)
If you lose or misplace your sticker, you must show your receipt at the Town Clerk’s Office to receive a replacement sticker at no cost. If you have purchased a new vehicle or replaced the windshield, please bring in all or part of your Transfer Station Sticker.
***Transfer Station Prohibited Commercial Use and Misuse Notice***
In a continued effort to crack down on commercial use, if you are found/reported to be using your Transfer Station Pass for your business, you will promptly lose access to the Transfer Station and will not be able to purchase a Transfer Station Pass for one (1) year. Use of the Transfer Station is strictly for residents of Haddam and not for any type of business.
In addition, if you are found to have done the following, use of the Transfer Station will be revoked:
- Misrepresent your residential address
- Misrepresent losing a pass
- Place your pass on a different registered vehicle
- Fraudulently obtain a pass
- Use your pass for your business
