Haddam Senior Center Receives Donation from VFW

Submitted by Doreen Staskelunas

(August 17, 2023) — The Haddam Senior Center would like to thank the local Higganum/Haddam Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10690 for their generous donation of $400 in support of its mobility class. The mobility class, which began in March of this year, is taught by Jennifer Gawlak of Fitness with Jennifer, and focuses on gentle but effective movements that can be done seated or standing by anyone of any ability. Participants work on stretching, strength, breathing and balance in each thirty-minute session.

Jim Woodworth, Quartermaster of VFW Post 10690, stated that the classes are attended by several VFW and Auxillary members and helps keep them active, which is why they wanted to support the class.

The Haddam Senior Center is open every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There are a variety of informative and entertaining enrichment programs scheduled each month, and hot lunch is served at noon. The mobility class meets every Tuesday at 11:15 a.m.
