January 25, 2022 (Haddam, CT) – On April 18, 2022, Laura LaRiviere of Haddam will run the 126th Boston Marathon® in support of Boston Children’s Hospital. As a member of Boston Children’s Miles for Miracles Team, runners have an extra incentive to push them across the finish line: helping children and families who receive world-class care at Boston Children’s.
Laura has been an active member of the running community throughout Connecticut, having run numerous marathons and ultra marathons. She has been a unified partner with Special Olympics Connecticut Track and Field, as well as a running guide with Achilles International Connecticut chapter.
Laura’s daughter, Amanda, was a patient at Boston Children’s Hospital where she underwent open heart surgery when she was five years old. Amanda is now a healthy college student at Northeastern University in Boston, and her family is happy to be able to give back to Boston Children’s Hospital through Miles for Miracles.
Miles for Miracles team members raise funds for Boston Children’s Hospital’s areas of greatest need: patient care, medical research, recruitment and training, and community health programs. Runners like Laura meet their fundraising goal through personal donations from their families, friends, community, and co-workers. The program has raised more than $35 million for Boston Children’s Hospital since 1996.
