(May 2, 2023) — The observance of Memorial Day is scheduled to be held on Monday, May 29, 2023, beginning promptly at 9:30 a.m.
Any veteran who wishes to march does not need to be a Haddam resident, and the wearing of a uniform is not necessary. All non-profit civic organizations are also welcome to participate. Any veteran interested in being a wreath-bearer or carrying a flag should contact a parade committee member.
Haddam’s Memorial Day Parade is a solemn occasion with participation limited to the theme of Memorial Day, community spirit and American history. Floats and unauthorized vehicles are prohibited, as well as the tossing of candy or trinkets. The Parade Committee reserves the right to turn away entries that do not follow these guidelines. We also ask that vendors refrain from selling items during the parade and ceremony.
The parade may be shortened due to inclement weather but the ceremony on the Higganum green will be held rain or shine. All marchers should assemble between 9:00-9:15 a.m. at the corner of Lake Avenue and Route 81. Bus transportation from the Haddam Veterans Museum to Lake Avenue will be available for all marchers.
For further information, please contact Chris Stiglin (914-227-5117), Steve Abbatello (203-915-5037) or John Berchulski (860-761-5042).
